Companions in Warframe are not just your average pets. That’s because some of them are literally robots. Also, some of them are build-enabling and can let you reach some absurd heights on your flight to galactic mass murder. The problem is, there are more than 30 of them in the game, and you can only bring one good boy/girl at any given time. Hence, let our Warframe Companions tier list help you pick the best or see how your favorites perform.
Warframe Companions Tier List
Like most tier lists, we’ll be dividing them into SS, S, A, B, C, D, etc. as a metric or gauge of their performance. We’ll be explaining what the tier list means later and how some of the choices are justified.

Since Warframe Companions function differently and aren’t really your main method of dealing damage, our criteria shift toward utility and how well the Companion supports playstyles.

Warframe Companions Tier List Explained
Here’s the explanation for the how and the why. The testing method includes Steel Path, of course, in which case, a lot of Warframe Companions lag behind because they simply can’t keep up or die too early.
So it’s unsurprising why the top spot looks like that. However, there’s going to be a Companion rework sometime in 2024. So expect the hierarchy to be shaken up. For now, here’s the tier list explanation.
SS-Tier (Best Companions in Warframe)
More like the best companion (singular). We just had to include a separate tier category for the old reliable fox here, the Panzer Vulpaphyla.

It has the lowest respawn timer out of all the Companions (30 seconds) and it can still attack even after it dies since it turns into a floating turret. Moreover, the Panzer Vulpaphyla spreads the Viral status effect to enemies, which translates to more damage from you.
This lets you skip the Viral mod configuration on your weapons, leading to even higher damage since you can use other mods or other combo elements. But the mere fact that you don’t have to babysit this Companion makes it the easy top choice for many.
S-Tier
These Companions are not as convenient as the Panzer Vulpaphyla but still offer some excellent utility for players. You can take them in place of the Panzer Vulpaphyla and not worry too much.
The Smeeta Kavat is ideal for farming resources since it can effectively double the drops, meaning your effort is halved. However, the drawback is that it can still die or get downed and you need to babysit this cat.
Meanwhile, Helios is a handful of utility. It can scan during combat and it can also use the Vicious Bond Companion mod to strip enemy armor. This is one of the few Sentinels you can take to Steel Path.
A-Tier
They’re good, just not that exciting. Still, you can’t go wrong with these Warfame Companions. Some of them might even be your favorite despite the much stronger options, and you won’t feel like you’re missing out too much.

Carrier is as iconic as ever since it breaks containers and also shortens your farming grind to a certain extent. Deathcube is somewhat good for generating Energy Orbs. Sahasa Kubrow can also dig up Energy Orbs for you.
Djinn is a nice alternative to the Panzer Vulpaphyla since it’s quite tough and comes back earlier than expected if destroyed. Nautilus? You craft it for Verglas which is the strongest Sentinel weapon. Then there’s Diriga which is great at keeping enemies at a distance, perfect for dealing against those Grineer Butchers.
B-tier
B-Tier is what you can consider as average. They’re not going to wow you or surpass expectations, and you shouldn’t expect much of them, of course.
If you are mainly in Steel Path, then you might have trouble relying on these Companions as they either die too much, don’t provide enough utility, or deal too little damage. Still, some of them have niche uses, such as Shade which can provide pockets of invisibility to any Warframe.
C-Tier
C-Tier is where you might start getting disappointed with your Companion. Most of them have niche uses outside of combat like Oxylus which is only really good if you’re fishing.
The other ones might be too difficult to obtain while not offering anything substantial or noteworthy in return, especially since there’s only one Companion slot for missions. Still, we’re not telling you to stay away from them as they can have their uses.
D-Tier
These are the Companions we want you to avoid or replace immediately. Some of them are given for free or right away, which is why they underperform compared to other Companions.

And despite the Phase 1 of the Companion rework last year, they can still be underwhelming. Hopefully, that will change in Phase 2 of the rework sometime this year.
